Li/Saltzman Architects is seeking a Preservation Architect to join our team.  

With a focus on not-for-profit, cultural and institutional clients, LSA brings an analytic and creative approach to preservation planning, restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive use projects. Individuals will have the opportunity to work on projects through all stages - from concept design and preliminary planning phases through construction administration. Candidates should be highly motivated to excel professionally in a collaborative atmosphere, have effective communication and organizational skills, be attentive to detail, be committed to meeting concurrent deadlines without compromising quality, and work within established contract budgets.

Position:         Preservation Architect, Full-time Position

Location:         50 Broadway, New York, NY 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience

  • Professional Degree in Architecture

  • Professional Degree or Certificate in Historic Preservation  

  • New York State License in Architecture preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in the restoration and rehabilitation of New York City Landmarks, New York State and National Register eligible and/or listed buildings, and National Historic Landmarks

  • Familiarity with NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission Rules and Guidelines, and The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines, and preservation best practices a plus

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and writing skills 

  • Ability to work well with clients and to coordinate inter-disciplinary teams

  • Ability to handle projects from inception through construction administration

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Bluebeam

  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Revit a plus

  • Proven track record in project management, including effectively meeting project deadlines and budgets

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the principal and project team to coordinate multiple active projects

  • Prepare existing conditions assessment and preservation planning reports

  • Develop design and construction drawings and specifications

  • Manage consultant communication 

  • Manage Construction Administration, including preparation of field reports and review of shop drawings, applications for payment, and change orders

  • Work with project team to effectively meet design intent, quality assurance, and best practice standards
