Bethworks

Bethlehem, PA

Li · Saltzman Architects served as the Preservation Architect in a team of professionals developing a Master Plan for the redevelopment of the former Bethlehem Steel site. The historic 124-acre site was planned as a residential, commercial, entertainment and cultural complex.

Li · Saltzman Architects provided archival research, documentation of building conditions and alterations, and assessment for potential adaptive use. As Preservation Architects, Li/Saltzman successfully advocated within the redevelopment team for the preservation of the historic structures and the historic interpretation of the site and met with various local and regional organizations regarding the potential creation of a Visitors’ Center within the Stock House, the oldest structure of the site. As the phased development progresses, the history of the former industrial complex is maintained.
