695 Sixth Avenue, located on 6th Avenue between 22nd and 23rd Streets, is a cast-iron, stone, brick and stucco, commercial palace in the Ladies’ Mile Historic District. The site was constructed and expanded in four distinct campaigns. William Schickel & Co. designed the Ehrich Brothers Department Store, a 5-story commercial palace in 1889. Extensions were subsequently designed by Buchman and Deisler (1894), Buchman & Fox (1902-1904) and Taylor & Levi (1911-1915).

Li · Saltzman Architects served as Historic Preservation Consultant to Gensler for a series of alterations, including a rooftop addition, expanded storefront master plan, new lobby entrances and modified canopy, and barrier free upgrades. LSA guided the team in understanding LPC requirements, and also liaised with, and made presentations to, the Landmarks Preservation Commission for Certificates of Appropriateness.
